Cloistered Imperial Prince Gyoen (行円法親王)

Cloistered Imperial Prince Gyoen (January 31, 1677 - January 19, 1719) was a cloistered imperial prince during the early to mid Edo Period. His father was Emperor Reigen. His mother was Yoko GOJO. His childhood name was Rokunomiya. His secular name was Chikayoshi.

He entered Myoho-in Temple in Kyoto at the age of nine, and studied under Cloistered Imperial Prince Gyojo. He became a priest after receiving the title of Imperial Prince, and then served as Tendai-zasu (head priest of the Tendai sect) three times. He also served as a doshi (officiating monk) in the thirty-three memorial service of the 4th shogun, Ietsuna TOKUGAWA, and the ninety-ninth memorial service of Ieyasu TOKUGAWA.
